Hello, there, and welcome to the Culinary Canary! For my first ever post on my pretend blog, I'll talk a little bit about what I'm doing here and why.

First off, I'm Erin.  I live in San Antonio with my wonderful family and a house full of cats. I'm really fortunate that my husband and I both love to cook, and we're teaching our sons what we know now.  So, we cook most of our meals at home. We like to explore new cuisines and techniques and try to keep things fresh.

The reason I'm calling this a pretend blog is that I don't have the time, space, or even really the desire to spend hours creating and perfecting new recipes.  I can't imagine attempting the same recipe over and over again with minute variations, and I certainly can't imagine my family being okay with eating the same food on repeat while I perfect it.  None of this sounds remotely fun or fulfilling for me.

What I like to do instead, is explore the nearly infinite number of recipes already out in the world, both digital and analog. My goal here is to report back on which recipes we've tried, letting you, my lovely (imaginary, for now at least) reader,  know what worked and what didn't.  I don't need to reinvent the wheel here.  I just want to try a whole bunch of wheels invented by other people and share my thoughts on those!

So, welcome to my journey. I'll be back soon to talk about Coconut Cream pie. Thanks for stopping by!
